How to use the 3D printer

Our 3D Printer!

The Panola College M.P. Baker Library has a 3D Printer! It's a MakerBot Replicator+ and it is located on the second floor.

 

Intellectual Property Laws

Panola College respects intellectual property laws. The 3D printer may not be used to print objects that are subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection.

Right of Refusal

The M.P. Baker Library reserves the right to refuse any print job. Objects which are deemed obscene or harmful, such as guns or gun parts, will be refused. Manufacturing (printing mass quantities of an object) is not permitted.

Questions?

Yes! Any Panola College student, faculty, or staff can use the 3D printer. 

If you are printing something for a class assignment it's free! If you are printing for personal use then it does cost:

  • 5¢ per gram for true color and limited color filament 
  • 7¢ per gram for specialty color filament 
  • 14¢ per gram for glow in the dark and tough PLA filament 

 

 

  1.  Find or design an item
  2. Email your design to library@panola.edu
    • The design should be saved as your first and last name
    • The design must be saved in .stl format
  3. When your design has been approved to print save it on a flashdrive and bring it to the information desk upstairs in the library

Disclaimer

The M.P. Baker Library recognizes the limitations of 3D printing technology and does not guarantee that the objects printed will be fit for any particular purpose. Only library staff members may operate the printer. The library is not responsible for an invalid 3D model. 

Restrictions

The 3D printer may be used only for lawful purposes. Panola College students, staff, faculty and approved partners will not be permitted to use the 3D printer to create an object that is:

  • Prohibited by local, state or federal law.
  • In violation of Panola College regulations or Student Code of Conduct.
  • Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others.
  • Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the educational environment.
