Microbiological topics are prevalent in today's news media coverage and may be overlooked between the Sport's page, comics, Dear Abby, sudoku puzzle or the FOX major headline of the day. Advances in biotechnology, concerns with public health issues, infectious diseases and environmental concerns are just some of the many topics that are newsworthy.

The purpose of this exercise is to increase student awareness of microbiological topics/concepts by utilizing reputable online/library resources.
